This page is for agencies, consultancies and other service teams that use ClickUp or are evaluating it, and want to know what else is available. We compared seven alternatives on starting price, minimum seats, free plan, time tracking and invoicing, and worked out what a team of 10 pays.
FlowQi is our own product, so it is listed first, with its downsides. Every competitor price comes from the vendor’s own pricing page or help center. Pricing checked on 13 September 2026.
Why teams look for a ClickUp alternative
ClickUp is a flexible workspace. Spaces, statuses, views and fields can all be shaped to your process. That flexibility is the reason many teams choose it, and it also means someone has to design and maintain the setup.
The pricing facts that come up most often:
- On Free Forever, time tracking is a trial feature and storage is 60 MB. Native time tracking and unlimited storage start on Unlimited, at $7 per user per month billed yearly or $10 billed monthly.
- Business costs $12 per user per month billed yearly or $19 billed monthly.
- ClickUp Brain AI is sold separately at $9 per user per month.
- The pricing page lists no invoicing, so teams that bill clients from hours need a second tool.
None of this makes ClickUp a bad choice. It does mean that teams who want a ready-made client workflow, or who want invoicing in the same place as their hours, often compare other tools.
The alternatives
FlowQi
FlowQi is a work platform for service businesses. CRM, projects, tasks, time tracking, capacity planning, quotes and invoices sit in one place, so a client record leads to a project, hours and an invoice. Basic is free for the whole team with no end date and includes CRM, projects, tasks, list, board and calendar views and 500 MB of storage. Core adds roles and permissions, private projects, guest users, Hummy AI, reporting and team dashboards and 100 GB of storage.
FlowQi Basic is free with no minimum seats, Core costs €25 per user per month (€20 billed yearly), Time & Resources costs €25 per user per month only for the people who track time, and Billing costs €25 per user per month only for the people who invoice. Both modules also work on the free Basic plan.
Best for: agencies and service teams that want CRM, projects, hours and invoices connected, without paying for every module on every seat.
Watch out: FlowQi has no accounting integration and no verified integration list yet. It is a young platform with few public reviews. Hummy AI and roles and permissions are only in Core. It is built for service businesses, so teams that want a generic project tool to shape any way they like may find it narrower than ClickUp.

Asana
Asana is a work management tool used for cross-team projects and recurring workflows. Time tracking is included from Starter. Timesheets, user rates and project budgets come with a separate add-on, and the pricing page lists no invoicing.
Asana Starter costs $10.99 per user per month billed yearly or $13.49 billed monthly, Advanced costs $24.99 yearly or $30.49 monthly, paid plans start at 2 seats, and the Timesheets & Budgets add-on costs $5.99 per user per month billed yearly.
Best for: internal and cross-department projects where clear ownership of tasks matters more than billing.
Watch out: the free Personal plan is limited to 2 users. Portfolio workload starts on Advanced, and capacity planning is Enterprise only.
monday.com
monday.com Work Management is built around boards and dashboards that non-technical colleagues tend to pick up quickly. CRM, Service and Dev are separate monday.com products with their own seat prices.
monday.com Work Management starts at €9 per seat per month billed yearly on Basic, time tracking requires Pro at €19 per seat per month billed yearly, and paid plans start at 3 seats sold in seat buckets.
Best for: teams that want a visual, easy-to-adopt tool for tracking work and status.
Watch out: time tracking is only on Pro and above, and resource management is on Enterprise. Seat buckets can mean paying for seats nobody uses. monday.com shows prices in local currency; the euro prices above are what its pricing page showed us.
Notion
Notion combines documents, wikis and databases, and many teams build lightweight project trackers on top of them. The Business plan includes Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search. The pricing page lists no built-in time tracking or invoicing.
Notion Plus is listed at €9.50 per member per month billed yearly or €11.50 billed monthly, Business at €19.50 billed yearly or €23.50 monthly, and no minimum seats are stated.
Best for: teams whose work lives in documents and knowledge bases, with project tracking as a second need.
Watch out: on the Free plan, workspaces with several members get a limited number of blocks. Full AI features start on Business. Any project workflow is something you build and maintain yourself.
Wrike
Wrike is a project management platform for structured projects and portfolios, from small teams to enterprises. According to Wrike’s help center, time tracking is available on Business, Pinnacle and Apex. Advanced resource and capacity planning and budgeting are part of Pinnacle, which is priced on request.
Wrike Team costs $10 per user per month for 2 to 15 users and Business costs $25 per user per month for 5 to 200 users, both billed yearly, and Business is only sold as a yearly subscription.
Best for: larger teams running many parallel projects that need structure and reporting.
Watch out: there is no time tracking on Free or Team. Budgeting needs Pinnacle, and the pricing page lists no invoicing.
Teamwork.com
Teamwork.com is project management built for client work. Time tracking is included on every paid plan. Client invoicing from logged time, time budgets, retainers, capacity planning and HubSpot and QuickBooks integrations start on Accelerate. Quotes are on Optimize, which is priced on request.
Teamwork.com Basics costs $9.99 per user per month billed yearly or $13.99 billed monthly, and Accelerate costs $24.99 yearly or $29.99 monthly, with a minimum of 3 users on Basics and 5 on Accelerate.
Best for: client-service teams that want project delivery and invoicing from hours in one established tool.
Watch out: yearly billing saves up to 29% compared with monthly billing. The free plan is capped at 5 users and 5 projects. TeamworkAI is included for an introductory period, with usage-based AI credits launching in September 2026.
Trello
Trello is a kanban board tool. Cards move across lists, and the paid plans add more views and admin controls. Its pricing page lists no built-in time tracking.
Trello Standard costs $5 per user per month billed yearly or $6 billed monthly, Premium costs $10 yearly or $12.50 monthly, and the Free plan covers up to 10 collaborators per Workspace.
Best for: small teams that need simple, visual task boards and little else.
Watch out: there is no built-in time tracking, CRM or invoicing. The Free plan is limited to 10 boards per Workspace.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best free ClickUp alternative?
FlowQi Basic is free for unlimited users with no end date and includes CRM, projects and tasks. Other free plans are smaller: Teamwork.com Free allows 5 users and 5 projects, Trello Free allows 10 collaborators per Workspace, and Asana Personal and monday.com Free allow 2 users or seats. Time tracking is usually not part of a free plan, and on ClickUp Free Forever it is a trial feature.
Which ClickUp alternative includes time tracking and invoicing?
FlowQi and Teamwork.com both do. In FlowQi, Time & Resources costs €25 per user per month for the people who track time and Billing costs €25 per user per month for the people who invoice, and both work on the free Basic plan. Teamwork.com includes invoicing from logged time on Accelerate, at $24.99 per user per month billed yearly with a minimum of 5 users. ClickUp's pricing page lists time tracking from Unlimited but no invoicing.
Which ClickUp alternative is best for agencies?
For a small or mid-sized agency that bills hours, FlowQi connects the client record, project, hours and invoice, and charges modules only for the people who use them. Teamwork.com is the more established choice for client project delivery and adds HubSpot and QuickBooks integrations on Accelerate. Asana and monday.com work well for agencies that invoice from a separate tool.
Is there a cheaper alternative to ClickUp?
ClickUp Unlimited costs $100 per month for 10 users at monthly billing. Trello Standard costs $60 per month for 10 users but has no built-in time tracking. On FlowQi Basic, a team of 10 where 3 people track time pays €75 per month for Time & Resources, and everyone else uses CRM, projects and tasks for free.
Can I migrate from ClickUp to FlowQi?
Yes. FlowQi imports contacts, organisations and projects from CSV files. Decide beforehand which other ClickUp data you need to keep, such as task comments or custom fields, because those are not part of that import.
Does ClickUp include invoicing?
ClickUp's pricing page lists native time tracking from the Unlimited plan, but no invoicing feature on any plan. Teams that bill clients from tracked hours usually add a separate invoicing or accounting tool.
How much does ClickUp AI cost?
ClickUp sells Brain AI as an add-on at $9 per user per month, on top of the plan price. For comparison, FlowQi includes its assistant Hummy in Core at €25 per user per month, and Notion includes Notion Agent in Business.
